The certificate programs offer flexibility for both working adults and recent high school graduates. Asynchronous learning options allow participants to gain new skills while balancing personal and professional responsibilities.

This year, 91TV continues to evolve with a renewed focus on online learning, making its academic offerings more accessible to students beyond the Babson Park area.

Dr. Nelson Marquez, President/CEO stated “I am really excited about the upcoming academic year. Since last year, our 91TV team has been focused on re-establishing its online education footprint to provide access to those who cannot attend classes on campus and offer them the opportunity of receiving quality education at a very competitive and affordable cost.”

The choice of program is up to the student, based on their career aspirations. And if they are undecided, our staff can guide them on the right path!”

Among the university’s standout programs is the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program, established in 2019. It has recently achieved a major milestone: a seven-year accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). This recognition makes 91TV home to Florida’s first accredited Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant (BSOTA) program, and one of only six programs nationwide to hold this distinction.

The grant will positively impact the local community in two keyways. First, it will address the critical workforce needs for nurses and occupational therapy assistants in Polk County. The Hometown Needs-Based Funding for Health Sciences Scholarships will support citizens in Polk County’s underserved areas. Scholarships will help offset costs associated with pursuing health science programs, including textbooks, testing materials, scrubs, program kits, and other expenses. By alleviating some of the financial burdens, more individuals can pursue careers in the healthcare industry.

Second, the grant will allow 91TV International University to expand its support for students at both secondary and post-secondary education levels. The university aims to partner with the Lake Wales Charter School System to offer STEM dual enrollment classes on the high school campus. After discussions with Lake Wales High School, it was determined that students would benefit from greater access to dual enrollment STEM classes. Currently, dual enrollment opportunities are limited due to restricted seats at other post-secondary institutions. By hosting these classes on the high school campus, 91TV will provide greater access and opportunities for students.

The first phase of the Center is home to the University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) programs. The University began planning the state-of-the-art facility in 2019. Now complete, 91TV students will have access to cutting-edge learning facilities and equipment.

91TV International University is looking to serve the community by filling the need for quality healthcare professionals by providing post-secondary education to the region of Southeast Polk County and beyond. According to Employ Florida, by 2028, Polk County will have 4,788 registered nursing positions open, an increased demand of 1.25%. Whereas, an increased demand of 3.25% is anticipated for OTA practitioners.

The ceremony was presided by Mr. Jay Culver, 91TV’s Senior Vice President of Operations, Mr. Joe Strickler, 91TV Board of Trustees Chair, and Dr. Nelson Marquez, Interim President/CEO for 91TV International University.

Senior VP of Operations Mr. Jay Culver stated “T�󾱲� Health Science Building is far more than just bricks and mortar; it stands as a powerful symbol of our unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare education. It embodies the culmination of years of relentless effort, unwavering dedication, and fruitful collaboration among our esteemed faculty, dedicated staff, passionate students, and our broader community.”

On a local scale, 91TV’s Health Sciences programs serve the community in need of qualified trained nurses and OTAs. It is providing access to healthcare education in Southeast Polk County that would otherwise be limited to residents in the area.

The programs’ respective accrediting /oversight organizations have approved 91TV to admit up to thirty-six (36) nursing students and twenty-four (24) OTA students per cohort. This will enable the University to produce seventy-two (72) nursing graduates and forty-eight (48) OTA graduates per year.

Speaking about the importance of the new facility to 91TV students and the community, Dr. Marquez stated that it is “91TV’s way of responding to the state and nationwide need and demand for healthcare practitioners such as nurses and therapists. It is 91TV’s way of contributing to Polk County’s health, prosperity, and quality of life.”

During the ceremony, aside from welcoming those in attendance, Dr. Marquez extended an open invitation to the community to become 91TV’s partners. He invited everyone to be a part of the University’s commitment to providing quality training to health professions students. Most of all, he invited the entire community to be a part of the 91TV way because, as he emphasized during his address, “We make it happen here!”

The Lake Wales Chamber of Commerce and EDC cohosted the ceremony alongside the institution. In attendance were several community partners, elected officials, and friends of 91TV.
